You’ll find us within the beautiful Maia Mothers Collective — a safe, welcoming space for women to access support and services throughout their fertility, pregnancy, postpartum journey and beyond.
Maia Mothers Collective, 89 Beatrice Terrace, Ascot, Brisbane QLD 4007.
It's a quiet residential street with plenty of free parking right around the studio. -
Yes — we regularly host pop-ups in Melbourne and Sydney, and we're always happy to travel if there's enough demand somewhere new. Just reach out and let us know.
-
We work by appointment only, so it's best to plan ahead. The sweet spot is between 32 and 36 weeks, though we can capture your bump earlier or later too. If you're expecting multiples, don't leave it too late — you'll want to book sooner to avoid missing out.
-
Head to our online booking system and choose a spot that suits you. If there's nothing available, or you've found us at the last minute, email us directly at info@settandmaxe.com.au— we'll do everything we can to fit you in.
-
No need to bring anything — we've got a robe ready for you in the studio. Just remember to take off any jewellery and tie your hair up in a bun beforehand, so your neckline is clearly visible for the scan.
-
Just show up as you are. Take off any jewellery, pop your hair up in a bun, and have a rough idea of the pose you'd love to capture — though we'll help you land on the perfect one together on the day.
-
Not at all. While pregnancy is our main focus, we've had the privilege of capturing all kinds of people — men, couples, women preparing for mastectomy surgery, and others honouring different health journeys. Every body has a story worth holding onto.

Of course — just let us know beforehand. Kids are welcome too, as long as they're happy sitting on the couch during the photography. We also have a waiting room available within Maia Mothers Collective.
-
The session runs for about 45 minutes. We'll walk you through your material options and help you find the pose that suits you best. The photography itself only takes 2–3 minutes.
-
For the most detailed, true-to-you result, yes — naked is best. But we understand that's not for everyone, so a seamless, light-coloured g-string works too (this gets smoothed out later in production).
-
That's entirely your call — your body, your sculpture, your choice. Body hair may show up in the scan, so if you'd prefer it not to be visible, you can either shave beforehand or we can blur it in production.
-
Completely. Our camera is no different to a standard photo camera — safe for both you and your baby.
-
Yes, we're happy to do a little touch-up here and there — whether that's softening a scar, a mole, or anything else you'd rather not have on your sculpture.
-
A $100 deposit secures your session and comes off your total cost. At your appointment, once you've chosen your size and material, 50% of the remaining balance is due on the day, with the final 50% due once your sculpture is finished. We also offer payment plans.
-
Good things take time — especially when they're made entirely by hand. Around 3–4 months from payment for a Classic sculpture, and approximately 5 months for a fully bronze-cast piece. Every sculpture goes through multiple stages of craftsmanship, from casting to finishing, and we never rush the process — because the quality and detail you deserve simply can't be hurried.
-
We'll reach out to you first, and then send your sculpture by registered mail straight to your door.

Classic sculptures: Keep out of direct sunlight and away from damp areas. Avoid cleaners — a gentle dust is all it needs. As these are delicate, keep them out of reach of little hands.
Bronze sculptures: Bronze is remarkably durable and built to last centuries, with a protective coating already applied. If you live near the sea, some wearing of the patina may occur over time, and it's best to keep handling to a minimum, as the oils from your hands can affect the patina too.
Dust off only — never use cleaning chemicals, as these will alter the bronze's colour. It's also worth keeping perfume, hairspray, and similar products away from it, as these can affect the finish as well. -
We understand pregnancy doesn't run to a schedule. For Brisbane appointments, we offer a full refund if you cancel more than 24 hours ahead; for pop-up locations, it's 48 hours.
